Miguel Adao: Welcome, everybody. We are here for another one of our Partner Showcase series. My name is Miguel Adao, and I'm the VP of marketing at Voler Systems. We're going to keep this short and sweet, as always. I am delighted to be here today with Mark Brinkerhoff from Fusion Design. So tell me a little bit about Fusion Design. How long have you been in business, and what do you guys do?
Mark Brinkerhoff: We're a mechanical development company for both products and equipment. We were founded in 1990, so that makes us 32 in September. Yay! And we've done projects with lots of different companies in the Valley. Everything from really small startups in a garage to the Fortune 100 companies and that has kept things fun. We have our own building in Campbell, our own machine shop, 3D printers, and lots of engineers. And we enjoy doing industrial design and mechanical engineering. We also partner with great companies like Voler along the way to fill in the gaps between the electrical aspects that we don't do and the software aspects that we also don't do, and merge with our mechanical development.
Miguel Adao: Yeah, I wanted to ask you a little bit about that. So, how did this partnership with Voler come about? I guess you've known our founder, Walt Maclay, for a few years now?
Mark Brinkerhoff: More than a few years. I think it's close to 20. You could ask him. He'd probably have a better recollection of exactly when. I believe we met at a Society of Manufacturing Engineers event. I met him and his wonderful wife. We hit it off and have been business associates and strategic partners for at last 30 projects.
Miguel Adao: Where have you found a complementary fit with Voler?
Mark Brinkerhoff: Voler is very good at electronics and the firmware and software that goes with it. They even do work in cloud data. So, many of our efforts with them, as of late, have been in the wearable space. And that's great because it integrates mechanical, electrical software, and the internet, all in one. So it's pretty cool. So that's been an area of active effort. In addition, we've done electronic enclosures for larger things like telecom devices, data servers, and other electronic elements requiring mechanical, electrical, and software.
Miguel Adao: Fantastic. We hope our partnership will continue for a long, long time.
